Senior Student Athletes Honor Night Recognition

62 Senior Student Athletes were recognized as an OK Conference Scholar Athlete for maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or higher and earning at least one varsity letter. Over 100 student athletes received All Conference Recognition 31 Senior Student athletes have committed to playing a sport in college This school year this Senior group of student athletes have contributed to: 9 Conference Championships 2 District Championships 2 Regional Championships 1 State Runner Up finish And 1 State Championship Triple Threat Award: Student Athletes receiving this award embody the true spirit of what it means to be a multi-sport athlete. Recipients of the triple threat award have competed on an athletic team for 12 consecutive seasons, 3 seasons each academic year from the fall of their Freshman year, through the spring of their Senior year. The three recipients are: Rudy Maynard Nathan Chapin And Tomas Mendez Kevin VanDuyn Athlete of the year: Mr. VanDuyn served as an Athletic Director here at Jenison from 1999 to 2018. He was a 1983 graduate of Jenison, a stand out student athlete and received this same award his senior year in 1983. Mr. VanDuyn was instrumental in the growth of the Jenison Athletic program as well as the planning and design of our outdoor facilities and aquatic center. Recipients of this award are nominated and voted on by our coaching staff. Your 2025 Male Athlete of the year is Seth Conner - - And your 2025 Female Athlete of the year is Sophia Umstead. Seth and Sophia have also been named OK Conference Athletes of the Year for Jenison. Sophia Umstead has been named the 2024-25 Division 1 Swimmer of the Year by the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association. Sophia has also been named a Top 6 Finalist for the Detroit Athletic Club Michigan High School Female Athlete of the Year and she will be honored in Detroit in June at the Detroit Athletic Club. Coach Dean Wierenga Scholarship - Rudy Maynard Brady Wilson Memorial Scholarship: Brady was an exceptional student athlete at Jenison from 1998 to 2002. He was a member of the 2001 State runner up football team. Brady would go on to Hope College where he played football for four years. After college Brady joined the FBI where he had a very successful career. Brady embodied all of the qualities of a great individual, he was kind and considerate to all, he was respectful and protective of others, a dedicated team player, he loved the game, and had a sense of humor that would light up a room. Most importantly he had great love for family, and faith and trust in God. The recipients of the Brady Wilson Memorial Scholarship are: Charlie Norton - Hope College Dylan Gage - Adrian College Micah Young - Alma College
