The Cats traveled up US 131 on Friday night for a match up with the #7 team in Division 1 - the Rockford Rams. Rockford scored first with some help from its defense and an INT returned for a touchdown in the 1st Q. The Cats would get on the scoreboard next when #20 Brody Schuiteman found a hole on the left side of the line of scrimmage and broke free for a 86 yard TD. Rockford would answer with another score of their own to make it a 14-7 (Rams) lead at half. The second half was filled with defensive stops by both the Cats and the Rams. Late in the 4th Q the Rams had a chance to make it a 2 score game with a 35 yard Field goal from the left hash. The attempt was no good and the Cats took over at the -20 yard line with 3:45 left in the 4th Q and 80 yard of green space to cover to tie the ball game. The Cats offense lead by #2 Parker Flegner and two huge catches by #4 Charlie Norton, marched 78 yard in 3 minutes and 20 seconds. The workhorse #20 Brody Schuiteman, once again had his name called and delivered with a bulldozing 2 yard TD run to make the score 14-13 (Rams). With 17 seconds remaining on the clock - Coach Lucas dialed up a 2 point conversion play that will be remembered as a program changing moment and what the future will look like for Jenison. #2 Flegner took the snap from the gun, the offensive line set great protection, the three wide receivers set right had cleared the flat, and #20 Brody Schuiteman was wide open for a 3 yard pitch and catch (Flegner to Schuiteman). CATS WIN! (Jenison: 15 - Rockford: 14)
