The varsity football team traveled an hour south on US 131 for a Week 1 match up with Kalamazoo Central. The Cats earned their first Week 1 win since 2009, by defeating KC, 14 - 0. The Thursday night contest began with both teams exchanging possessions before the Cats broke through for the first score of the game with 11 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Eli Zeitman connected with Charlie Norton for a 28 yard score to give the Cats the opening lead - PAT Good by Park (JHS: 7 - KC: 0). Later in the 3rd Quarter with 7:33 on the clock, Brody Schuiteman took the handoff and burst through the KC defense for a 15 Yard score - PAT good by Park (JHS 14 - KC:0).
